*The Social Skills Picture Book for High School and Beyond* by Dr. Jed Baker

I’m currently wandering around Bank Street Books (at 112th and Broadway) with a small group of 1st and 2nd graders. In the midst of trying to keep them (and the bookstore) safe and intact, *I* am the one that knocked over a stack of books.

On our tour, we ventured to the 2nd floor where they sell games, books, and teacher supplies and host author visits. I found The Social Skills Picture Book for High School and Beyond by Dr. Jed Baker on the “special needs” shelf. As is written in the forward, Dr. Baker suggests using his book and making your own picture books to help people relate in common situations like peer conflicts, dating, employment, and classroom encounters.

The illustrations totally reminded me of Goofus and Gallant from the old Highlights magazines.
