Jeff Pulver (@JeffPulver) sent out emails today about the #140edu videos being posted. I was incredibly floored and honored when Shelly Terrell (@ShellTerrell) asked me to join a #140edu panel about using Twitter to foster and promote grassroots professional development opportunities. When I found out the other panelists were Ann Leaness (@aleaness) and Meenoo Rami (@mrami2), I was even more excited. These three women are people I encountered on Twitter before meeting in real life, and I have tons of respect for them and their abilities to create spaces (both physically and virtually) where teachers meet and freely share resources, successes, help, joys, frustrations, and experiences.

Just reading what we choose to include in our Twitter bios is illuminating, especially in light of the fact that the theme of the #140edu conference was “Exploring the State of Now“:

Ann Leaness (@aleaness) – HS English Teacher, Grad Ed Adjunct and EdCampPhilly co-organizer
Karen Blumberg (@SpecialKRB) – NYCIST President. TEDxNYED, TEDxYouth@TheSchool, EdCampNYC, RoboExpo organizer
Meenoo Rami (@mrami2) – HS English teacher- Founder & moderator of #engchat. Teacher-Consultant for #nwp through #philwp and teacher at the Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia
Shelly S Terrell (@ShellTerrell) – Educator, tech trainer, Edtech, Elearning, TEFL. #Edchat coordinator.

I was amazed at what Jeff Pulver (@jeffpulver) and Chris Lehmann (@chrislehmann) pulled together over the course of the 2-day conference at the 92nd Street Y (@92Y). The messages, ideas, and enthusiasm from the steady stream of presenters was inspiring to say the least, and I am grateful that all of the talks are posted (in really good quality!) at Blip.tv (bliptv). #140edu is already on the schedule for next year, and will again take place at the 92nd Street Y on July 31 – Aug 1, 2012.

The panel have made very valid points and I think that they have come up with very synergistic solutions for building minds. I do think Dominican University’s online education degree is very good and would advise any teacher to check it out.
