Pics and resources from Day 1 at Design Do Discover @MarymountNY. #d32017 #edchat #MakerEd

I was lucky and thrilled to (briefly) attend another Design Do Discover (D3) at The Marymount School in New York City yesterday! D3 is modeled after Gary Stager and Sylvia Martinez‘s Constructing Modern Knowledge (CMK) and facilitated by many awesome CMK enthusiasts.

This event was led by the remarkable trio of Angi Chau (Director of Castilleja School’s Bourn Idea Lab), Jaymes Dec (Fab Lab Director at Marymount), and Eric Walters (Director of STEM at Marymount). Coaches included the phenomenal (and as Angu dubbed, “FABulous”) Don Buckley, Nancy Otero, Tracy Rudzitis, Erin Riley, Lindsey Own, and Josh Burker. Such a powerhouse of innovative, well-respected, and generous leaders and learners of STEM, STEAM, maker education, physical computing, electronics, design thinking, and project based learning.

If I didn’t have to fly to San Antonio to join Lucy Gray (and plan for our workshop, Make a Splash With Social Media in Your School or District, at the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE) tomorrow), I would have loved to stick around for Day 2 of D3 and see how the projects develop further. Also, Day 3 includes tours of The Portfolio School and The Specialists (a full service prop house in Brooklyn)…
